Athlete Spotlight
jamar wright
Jamar Wright is a class of 2020 G/F from Delaware. He is one of the most versatile wing players in the state. We recently sat down with him to discuss his off-season preparation, upcoming season and more.
During the summer I get to the gym at least 2 times a week to lift and at least 3 times a week to put up shots. I also work on ball handling and play games. I know it is important to develop not only my skills but become bigger, faster and stronger through weight training. I have attended 2 of the East Stroudsburg basketball team camps this summer. They both were great experiences. They gave me a chance to compete against some of the best players in the region. I was able to showcase my talents in front of the college coaches.
I received great feedback. Many coaches said they loved my athletic ability and how I can impact the game on both ends. They loved my defense on the wing and how I could score from all areas. I will continue to work on my ball handling more so my moves are more crisp. I’m looking forward to getting out there with my team to show what not only I can do but what me and my team can do as a whole. I didn’t get to play with them last year so I am ready to help my team be successful this year. We have a talented team and a great coaching staff. I know with hard work we can come together and have a great season.
I feel like my three best athletic traits are my vertical for my size, my speed/quickness, and my hustle. Mental toughness is how you respond to something that happened. There is always adversity on the court and in life. You have mental toughness to forget about a turnover or missed shot and continue to work to help your team.
