PERSONAL STATEMENT
Athletics are important in one's life because I believe that through athletics, it teaches the individual to step out of their comfort zone, accept new challenges, learn new skills, and learn about themselves as an individual. These aspects are also effective in the classroom as such things learned in sport such as leadership, communication, and listening and comprehension skills are important to have in the classroom. From personal experience, sports and athletics has taught me a lot about life, such as determination, perservereance, dedication, discipline, and love for what one might do in his or her life. It has also taught me about failure and resiliency, getting back up and moving past setbacks and getting to your goals in life. I believe through athletics, one can really change their lives if they choose to pursue it. I also believe character and skill make up the ultimate athlete, but I will also take the time to learn and grow and become better day by day.
