Motivation is the key skill to have when running track, especially because it is an individual but team player sport. What motivated me everyday to continue to do the sport I love is the sensation and feeling of hitting the goals you set for yourself. The feeling of knowing what your limits are but being able to push past them to become stronger. The anxiety, nervousness, and excitement I feel the morning of a meet day.
You should take a chance with me because I bring several unique qualities that are different from other recruits. One being that I truly recognize the importance of academics and believe strongly that education comes before sports. Many other recruits may say that they are leaders, but I have been given the rare opportunity by my coach to lead my team since my Freshman Year. I am a peacemaker, a humorous teammate, one of the biggest cheerleaders for my teammates in both school and on the track in order to be supportive. Lastly, I use my disappointments to fuel my fire and competitive spirit. I always try to change negative energy into positive energy giving me hunger and drive to continue getting better.
