Why are sports, academics, family and faith important to me? In the book of 1st Corinthians, we are encouraged to run in such a way to obtain the prize. When I am running, practicing, or playing in any sport my prize isn't necessarily the "W", but the journey for myself and my teammates. How could anyone not find academics to be important? The bible is full of encouragement on obtaining wisdom and taking hold of instruction. My family is where my security, safety and support system lies. How fortunate are we that God created a support system of families extend outside our blood relations to our spiritual families and yes and even to our teammates. I would have posed this question in the opposite order: Why are faith, family, academics, and sports important to me? Without the faith and my family's faith, I would not have the ultimate life instruction manual, the manual, the Bible, to guide my paths in order to obtain instruction and wisdom to lead a life of service to my God, my family, my teammates and my community. My prize is Heaven, but I get the opportunity to serve others and enjoy my athletics along the way.
