Is it your dream to play sports at the collegiate level? Have you worked hard with your team, performed well in the classroom, yet you are overlooked in the recruiting process? Don't worry...there is still time to build your recruiting exposure and college connections. The Dream Scouting Network has helped thousands navigate the recruiting process. Let me tell you a little about myself and how my knowledge and experience will help you every step of your recruiting journey.
I was born and raised in Union, New Jersey. At the time, my high school was the top Football program in the State and recognized as one of the top programs in the country. I was a student-athlete that was considered “undersized” for my position and because of that did not get pushed for scholarship exposure the way I would have liked by my Head Coach. However, I did not let that deter my determination to play at the Division 1 level like I knew I could. Instead, I bet on myself! I would slice videotapes from two VCR’s to make highlight tapes of my film and then send it out to different programs around the country. My hard work in the classroom, on the field and determination I had helped build my exposure to become an All Tri-State performer my senior season and earn a spot with the Rutgers University football program. However, like many students, I faced personal issues that led me to transfer from the school after my Freshmen year. I continued my journey at Montclair State University where I played for 2 seasons before having to stop due to injuries. I concluded my undergraduate instruction by earning a BS in Management Information Systems. It was during my senior year that I found my true calling was still centered around athletics and teaching. It happened when I began my coaching career as a Freshmen Football Coach at a local football program. Thus, I earned my teaching certification in Business Education and began my journey as High School Teacher and Football Coach.
Fast Forward 23 years and I have taught High School Business classes to students in grades 9-10. In addition, I have coached in NJ at the College level and at some of the strongest HS programs in the Northeast. Included in my experience is 7 seasons as an Assistant, 6 of which were as a Coordinator, at St. Joseph Regional, Bergen Catholic and St. Peter’s Prep. During the 2018 season, I was the Special Teams Coordinator, RB, and TE Coach at William Paterson University. In that time, we improved in every statistical category ranked by the NCAA for Special Teams. In addition, between 2005 and 2007, during my first tenure at William Paterson, I was the Special Teams Coordinator and LB's Coach. At that time, our Special Teams continually ranked among the nation's leaders. While there, I was given the honor of speaking at the NCAA Coaches Convention in Anaheim, the only Division 3 Coach to speak that year. In addition, I have been a Defensive Coordinator at some of the best programs in the state of NJ (St. Peter's Prep and Bergen Catholic). During my time at Bergen Catholic, I was the Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator as well as mentoring the LB's and OL. At St. Peter's I was the Special Teams Coordinator, as well as the defensive backs coach. In my 4 years at Prep, 7 of my DB's earned Division 1 scholarships to play at the FBS level. Included among those is Minkah Fitzpatrick, whom was a 3-year starter and All-American at the University of Alabama and was drafted 11th overall in the 2018 NFL draft and was just named All-Pro for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Finally, I coached Defensive Line at Fairleigh Dickenson University for 1 season and have been a High School Head Coach for a total of 4 Seasons. In my career, I have been a part of 7 teams that have won a State Championship, 6 of which finished the year ranked as the #1 Team in the State of New Jersey. In addition, I have helped place over 100 student-athletes at the FBS/FCS level and countless more at the D2 and D3 levels of play.
Then, during the winter of 2019, after 23 years, I stepped away from coaching to help guide my oldest son, whom was in his Junior Year of high school with the recruiting process. He has since earned a scholarship and is currently a Freshmen QB at Georgetown University. It was during his process, I realized how many athletes had issues navigating recruiting and how many students get overlooked for various reasons. It was at that moment that I decided to help as many student-athletes with their exposure and hopefully earn scholarship money, academic money, grants and places on College and university rosters.
I know that my background at the college level, my experience as a Head Coach, being a teacher for 22 years, as well as, taking part in the recruiting process from a High School Coaches perspective, from a College recruiters perspective, from a student-athletes point of view and from the parental side gives me a unique perspective that few scouts will possess.
